Geometry, dimension, and translucency. Veerle’s blog has an interesting article on the evolution of Adobe’s CS5 branding.

Cook I kinda like them, Though I still like the cs4 icons better.

I find the splash screens really interesting but I’m not convinced on the icons yet. I guess once they’ve lived in my dock for while I can re-evaluate them.
See Jones, I feel the opposite. I don’t know why the splash screens are making so many blogs. I mean - who cares about the splash screens? I don’t. I’d rather see screens of the new menus and toolbars. And, the icons are sweet. - But then again, they are in a somewhat rob-style of implied three-dimension. And the dock icons are in your visual sight much longer than the useless splash screens are, unless of course, you hide your dock - in which I don’t. But - second note on the dock icons - they are all in a color-matched scheme and hierarchy - but they all match that system except for the Bridge icon. Come-on designer, you know what I am talking about. The background color all reference the same hue as the front, just lighter to reference depth, BUT the Bridge icon goes from dark orange to dark gray? What is up with that Adobe? I mean, maybe an excuse could be found if more followed that, but it is the ONLY exception. One horrible mistake, I say, Adobe. Perhaps some of your developers should relearn the Munsell Color Wheel, or take Bruce’s color course again (wmu-reference). Peace.

I second the Roblr on the Bridge icon, I thing that is what is bothering me about these new Icons, however sorry rob I still do thing the new splash screens are refreshing. One thing that did dawn on me however is the fact that the splash screens and Icons don’t mimic each other. I think it would have been interesting if the icons were non-symmetrical forms like the splash screens or the splash screens where the semi-dimensional square like the icons. Oh well it is what it is, either way I can’t afford it lol.
